At Trekabout Tours we specialise in smaller groups, personalised service and flexibility. We operate buses and 4WD vehicles. We are local people that have worked in the wine industry and also spent a lot of time exploring the Hunter Valley wineries and mountains.
FULL DAY WINERY TOUR. Our winery tours visit 6 or 7 wineries in a day for tasting, including wine appreciation and a private tour through a working winery. We can normally include a visit to the Hunter Valley Cheese Company if desired. We visit mainly smaller boutique wineries but also have access to larger wineries if desired. Stop for lunch in a vineyard cafe (not included in price).

Each small group of 2 -13 guests is given time to fully experience the Valley’s wine history. Our tours include private tastings, sampling gourmet delights as well as information on the Valley's history and a few laughs throughout the day, are a great way of exploring the treasures of Wine Country without the worry of drinking and driving.
BOUTIQUE WINE & GOURMET FOOD TRAIL TOUR. Consists of five cellar doors offering a variety of wine styles from sparkling wines to fortifieds and everything in between. Hunter Shiraz and Semillon are a feature of the tour. This tour is a great introduction to the depth of Wine Country's industry! Also included are a wine tutorial, olive, cheese and handmade chocolate sampling. Lunch consists of "clean, green" produce - a scrummy antipasto platter full of mouth watering selections. Should you want to dine elsewhere this can be arranged with lunch at your own expense.

Come and enjoy an exquisite day of wonderful food, great wine and loads of fun. Our aim is to give you a food and wine experience you won’t find anywhere else. Each itinerary is tailor-made depending on your preferences and on the availability of wine makers and chefs. We guarantee you will have the best food and wine experience in the Hunter. We only take from 2 – 6 people, and each experience on the tour is individual.
FULL DAY GOURMET TOUR. 9.30-10am pickup from your accommodation. A typical day starts at Peterson Champagne House with a private tasting of sparkling whites and reds accompanied by freshly baked pastries. We then move on to Brokenwood for a private tour of the winery, bottling line and a ‘barrel tasting’ of some of their premium wine. This is followed by a private tasting in the board room of premium wines. It is then time for lunch (Esca, Bistro Molines, The Cellar, Rock, dependant on the day). The choice is a light luncheon accompanied by wines, or a 3-course a-la-carte lunch, with a glass of wine with each course. In the afternoon we travel to McWilliams and have a private tasting of aged wines and compare them to current vintage wines. This is followed by another highlight of the day: The ‘Make your own Wine’ blending exercise, including a souvenir bottle to take with you. Because we only have small numbers we can always tailor the tour to your wishes, which could include specific wineries, an elusive bottle or a visit to Chocolate Factory or The Smelly Cheese Shop. Return to your accommodation around 5pm.
