It’s been nearly three weeks since The Groundsman and I took the reins of Somewhere Unique and what a beautiful property it is. Surrounded by serene rural scenes, full of wildlife and birdsong. Such a wonderful change from the city. A big thank you to Murray and David who ‘showed us the ropes’ from water tanks to wine, gorgeous gardens to gourmet food, heat exchangers to happy guests. We echo their sentiment that we have become friends through the process and wish them well in their new ventures.
We have been delighted to welcome our first guests from our local area this week and we are looking forward to welcoming those from Greater Sydney from November. This is certainly a place to relax, unwind, and gently ease back into travel away from our homes.
The valley and region is getting ready. Myrtle House here in Wollombi is back with its Tapas nights and live music. The Great Northern Trading Post at Laguna also has live music back. The wineries are looking fabulous waiting for their ’tasters’ to reappear and we are looking forward to the markets re-emerging better than ever.
Here at Somewhere Unique The Groundsman and I have been spring cleaning. Trimming, mowing, chopping – clearing away the winter undergrowth. We have a sparrows nest in the eaves and have been delighted to watch the chicks take their first flights into a new world. The willie wagtail lifts its tail and bows its head to the changing of the season. The breeze is soft and warm and the smell of cake in the oven beckons us for afternoon tea.
Join us for a luxurious getaway in this beautiful part of NSW, we love it and are sure you will to.
